the rule of ICRC communication is that strictly only 25 words can be written in one letter, whether in chinese or in english. my mother send a letter to her family in 1942. that is the letter of ICRC. she wrote it in english and here is the what she was saying:"granddaughter born march 30th in berkeley.all well.tingsui awarded university fellowship.finacially good.how is everybody at home?"she sent the letter on may 21st,1942 and receiced by her father in china. my mother want to receive letter written in the back of her privious letter.and my aunt he zehui write back in english but she sighed her address and name in chinese.my daughter translated this letter.this is what she is saying:"all very well here.ming,daughter-in-law,grandson in peiping,yang,cheng on the way toward szechwan.others are still.any news from wei?"these are the 25 words.
